12 tetracaidecaedri irregolari calibro 75, 2019

3D Printins in "polilactic acid" (PLA)

The circle
The 12 artificial stones were designed and computer-moulded by 3D printers using biodegradable plastic material. Their circular arrangement evokes different cultural contexts and meanings: they may represent sacred or spiritual aspects, while the circle itself symbolises the endless cycle of time. Such an arrangement can be interpreted as part of a ritual or religious ceremony, or as a way of highlighting a focal point.

Repetition and multitude
In Cavenago's research with 'Erratico', repetition plays a fundamental role. Each piece starts from the identical regular hexahedron and undergoes a similar truncation process. However, what emerges is a multiplicity of unique results. Each element, although starting from a common base, stands out from the others, representing a multitude of variations even in apparently similar objects. This concept refers to the vast diversity of natural forms, where even stones of the same type are singular and unrepeatable.
Repetition, when accompanied by controlled variations, creates a series of works that, when joined together, form a multitude of related but not identical elements. This underlines the idea that nature is intrinsically characterised by the multiplicity and individuality of its forms. Each truncation, with its small variation, contributes to a unique and extraordinary range of forms, symbolising the diversity and richness of the natural environment.
Calibre and Accuracy
The introduction of the concept of calibre evokes the precision typical of human creations, often associated with the world of munitions and warfare, where calibre is an essential measure.
