The Pietrasanta installation
Cavenago's works do not merely follow conventions, they challenge them with decisiveness and innovative vision. The Carrara marble roller skates, with their dynamic design and arrangement, not only suggest movement, they evoke it with an intensity that captures the viewer's spirit. It is not simply a matter of representing physical movement, but of evoking a sense of dynamism and change.

In the installation in Pietrasanta, inside the solemn nave of the church of Sant'Agostino, the roller skates in veined statuary become a cry against the static nature of the traditional concept of the monumental statue. Far from being mere inanimate objects, these skates, confidently placed on the floor, are transformed into living symbols of movement and freedom. Marble, solid and imposing, finds new life in Cavenago's hands, transforming itself from a static material into a bearer of vital energy and renewal.

This bold choice underlines Cavenago's determination to push the boundaries of conventional art, pushing the limits of traditional artistic thinking. The work is not content to challenge expectations of material use, but breaks the shackles of artistic orthodoxy. Each pair of skates, with its unique number, becomes an expression of individuality and vitality, a testimony to the power of art to transform and awaken thought.

Finally, the skates find a home on the tombstones dotting the floor of St Augustine's church, creating a poignant contrast between the eternal stillness of death and the pulsating vitality of life. It is here that Cavenago's passion is fully manifested, in a work that not only defies convention, but embraces the power of art to arouse intense and transformative emotions.
